The Under-Loved, Vol. 16
So, normally, this feature would have gone up on Saturday. I did explain to Tessriane why this would be late, and anything I had pending was cancelled, so a lot of features are going to be a bit off-schedule for perhaps a week. Unfortunately, unavoidable circumstances resulted in that eventuality.
I do hope that you enjoy the following feature, and please do remember to show these artists some love! As always, the pieces featured below have less than 300 s or less than 100 comments. And do take a moment to visit Kedori's piece featured in the header (the comments exceeded the limit for being included in the body of the feature) as well!
My Daily Deviation HighlightsSo I haven't worked up a skin for this one yet. It's been almost seven weeks since Mrs-Durden tagged me for this project, so I can only extend my apologies to her, and I hope that you all enjoy the selection below.
First, four pieces that I've suggested to receive the feature that were chosen by the CVs:
And as I haven't caught up on my reading yet for the ones that have been featured for the last couple of months, I'll include other literature DDs from within the last year that I loved:
And now for the visual arts
For the purposes of this journal, all visual pieces will be from the week of July 12 - 18 2015
Photography Newsletter This month, silber-englein highlighted a fantastic article that showed most of the CRPhotography team something that we actually didn't know. It happens. But seriously, this was something very simple, easy and important that we had no clue existed. It turns out you can put your name in your camera. This is important on so many levels, but the article that highlighted it was just amazing. A Photographer had $15k worth of gear stolen and because he named his camera he was able to get it back. Find out more here - did you know that this existed??
Let's talk about Drones. In the past few years drones have become more afordable, popular and accessible for many and that has led to an increase in air activity. Drones can capture all sorts of useful
General Photography DDs - July 2015:iconcommunityrelations: Welcome!
This month the general photography CVs - Kaz-D, tiganusi and myself - set a total of 92 DDs across nearly every gallery we cover! Many thanks to everyone who's suggested to us, and as always we need more suggestions so don't be shy! Our guidelines are linked at the bottom of this article, and we tend to get a lot more People and Portraits suggestions than anything else so bonus points if you send us great pieces from the "weird" galleries. Self-suggestions are always welcome if you have a piece of your own that you think we should see!

Welcome Queen-Kitty to the CR team! She's covering Fashion Photography, so Commercial > Fashion and People and Portraits > Fashion DD suggestions go her way. She seems pretty awesome so this could be fun!
Saturday I decided to join the septum-piercing mafia and got my nose stabbed with an IV catheter. That was fun. Now I can't make duckface and hosagu is disappointed in me:
So yeah that's a thing. Do not get a septum piercing immediately before taking selfies. You will experience significant pain if you attempt duckface.
projecteducate has been on a photography roll this month, with Street week just finishing and now Photojournalism week beginning. Check out the wonderful tanikel's article What IS Photojournalism? and the somewhat-less-fabulous-but-still-pretty-fabulous Timothy-Sim's article

As someone suggested to me that some people may want to use my works as stock and I think it's a good idea, if you'd like to use my works as stock images, just ask me and I'll upload a higher resolution version of the picture requested. Don't hesitate to ask, I don't bite ! |
